Ladies, are you tired of downloading running-related or fitness-related eating plans only to give up after a week or two? Struggling to eat athlete-specific meals while also accommodating a young family? Looking to change the way that you eat as you age and start to experience slow-but-steady weight gain? We can help.

Ann & David Ashworth have lived and trained as athletes for most of their adult lives. In an effort to improve and maintain their athletic performance over time, they have tried a number of diets and eating plans supposedly designed to keep them fast and lean. Through trial and error, Ann’s experience with RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sports) and countless hours of reading and research on what, exactly, their bodies require, Ann has formulated a generalised eating plan incorporating a number of substitutable options to guide female athletes of all ages and abilities in identifying what works for them. As a rule, Ann’s experience (both personally and with the athlete’s she has coached) has been that female athletes chronically under-fuel, compromising their performance and making them vulnerable to RED-S.

Ann’s general philosophy is as follows:

  1. A healthy diet is one which includes a variety of fresh foods, of all colours and from all food groups.
  2. Any diet which aims to cut out or severely restrict a certain food group is going to be unbalanced and, without supplementation, detrimental to a person’s health and performance in the long term.
  3. Following a balanced diet will reduce the number of supplements required. By and large, athletes tend to over-supplement, ingesting all kinds of pills and potions alleged to improve their appearance and/or performance.
  4. Athletes need more protein than they think but, a high-protein diet does not necessarily mean “low-carb”.
  5. Food needs to be delicious. Following a healthy diet shouldn’t be a punishment.
  6. A little bit of what you fancy; does you the world of good.

For just R399.00 you can buy Ann’s weekly eating plan for female athletes, which includes a variety of substitutable meals and recipes.

Included is a list of Ann’s preferred supplements and things to look out for when adding food to your shopping basket.
