Established in 2013, and re-branded in 2024, the A-Team Coaching has helped hundreds of athletes in chasing their athletic and endurance dreams. Guided by their own personal experience and private studies, David, Cuan, Ann and Kerry draw from a wealth of knowledge to encourage and assist elite and non-elite athletes in achieving their individual strength, nutrition, trail and road running goals.
Coaching Services
A-Team Coaching offers virtual (or online) coaching utilising a web-based application called TrainingPeaks. TrainingPeaks pairs with an athletes GPS watch telling the athletes what he/she needs to do for the day while simultaneously telling the coach how the athlete did when completing the session. The TrainingPeaks App may be downloaded for free by all athletes.
The A-Team Coaches offer the following personalised run strength and endurance coaching:
- Personalised training plans accommodating each athletes work, family and club commitments;
- Run-focused strength and stability training accompanied by explanatory YouTube videos;
- Female-specific training dependent on an athlete’s menstrual cycle (Ann & David only);
- Race specific pacing plans;
- Nutrition and supplement advice;
- Periodic threshold testing and training pace updates (as required by TrainingPeaks);
- Pre-Comrades and Pre-Two Oceans motivational / informational talks; and
- One-on-one engagements in pursuit of each athlete’s individual running goals.
Coaches
Strength Training
From October 2024, the A-Team Coaching will be offering online run-focused strength and pilates classes twice a week. These classes may be joined online live, alternatively, the recording made available to athletes for use at their leisure. Ann will facilitate a morning class while Kerry will facilitate an evening class. A small additional fee will be charged for each class attended.
Coaching Fees
A-Team Coaching charges a standard monthly rate to all athletes based in South Africa (with an adjusted international coaching fee). This flat rate covers each of the services identified above as well as once-a-week check-in’s via WhatsApp or email and telephone calls on request. Occasionally, group runs and meet up’s will be scheduled where many athletes are likely to be in the same location (e.g. in Cape Town ahead of the Two Oceans Half and Ultra Marathon).
Regrettably, we do not offer group training sessions nor do we facilitate time trials, track workouts or group long runs. Athletes are encouraged to run with their ASA-affiliated running clubs or with local training groups in their area.
All coaching fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable.
Should you be unable to afford the standard coaching fee, David and Ann will be happy to engage with you to determine what is affordable for you and how we can make it work.
